Vanity...

...Thy name is Carrie.

So, yesterday while getting ready for church I am blow-drying my hair and looking at myself straight on in the bathroom mirror and I realize...

...wait for it...

...

I STILL HAVE A WAIST LINE!!!!!!!

Yup, that's right folks! Despite my burgeoning baby belly, I still got my curves in the right spots! Just don't look at me from the side, or you will see all the junk I got in my trunk!

It made me feel so good about myself yesterday.

It really is the little things, right?

Now it is time for this curvy mama to do the laundry. yay?

PS. What do you all wash your baby's clothes in? Do you have a special detergent? I have received a bunch of (ADORABLE!!!!!) hand-me-down baby clothes from a friend and want to wash them before I put them away. I am sure they are already clean, but I like to have stuff washed in my soaps before I use them if they are given to me.... Mostly because I use unscented soaps, my mom always did and I like that my clothes don't smell like other stuff.

I used Trader Joes Plant based Laundry Detergent, unscented, and OxiClean... I know the OxiClean should be good, because the makers of the diapers I registered for (Fuzzi Bunz) recommends using it to clean the diapers thoroughly, but I am not sure about the TJ's soap... I think it will be okay because it is plant based and unscented. Thoughts? I know Dreft is really recommended for baby's sensitive skin, but if there are no scents or anything else, you should be okay, right?

My mom gave me good advice: use what you always use and then if the baby reacts negatively to it, then you know you might need to try something else. Worked for me and I didn't have to spend more money buying something "special" for the baby.

Thanks Jenny! That's great advice! Your mama is a smart lady!

The TJ's soap should be fine since it is unscented. We use Tide normally, but I've always washed that first load of baby wash in Dreft...I always figured that IF my babe was allergic to the more intense stuff (Tide), the last thing I wanted was to find out when they were 2 days old! So, I buy one box of Dreft, use it up and then start washing in Tide...by then, they are at least a few month's old and I'm not quite so sleep deprived to be dealing with an itchy baby!

I do all of our laundry together in something called Free and Clear (I think it's Tide). It's unscented and free of dye so it's good for babies and adults. That way you don't have to buy the expensive baby stuff AND you don't have to separate the baby clothes from your own. =-)

Btw, you might want to do some research into detergent for your cloth diapers...you can't just use anything or else it will leave a residue and affect absorbancy...and the includes some of the "free and clear" detergents. FYI.

I don't know if Dreft has changed, but when my first was a baby, I got a sample in our hospital pack and the scent nearly knocked me over and my son immediately broke out in a rash, so I threw it away; rewashed ALL his clothes in a NON scented soap.(probably Arm & Hammer - after all, it HAS been 40 years LOL ) The Oxi-clean is good too!!
